How it works
No server
Voice, video, screen, messages and files don't pass through a server; they flow directly through the host in the room.
Only for connecting
While the connection is being set up, public servers are briefly contacted only for an encrypted handshake and an outside-address lookup.
No tracking
No account, no tracking, no recording.
The host can see the traffic in the room and knows your IP address. Share the link only with people you trust.
The room lives in your browser
A room is a random ID and a secret key created in your browser. The key sits in the # part of the link and never goes to a server.
The host
The room is run by the browser of someone who is inside at that moment. Everyone connects to the host, who passes voice, video, messages and file pieces on to the others and stores none of them.
If the host leaves
The next person automatically becomes the host and the call continues after a brief reconnect. If nobody is left, the room runs nowhere.
Limits
On networks where no direct path can be found, a connection can't be made; no server is put in between. A room can hold at most 20 people; if the host's internet speed isn't enough, handing over hosting is recommended.
