No server
Voice, video, screen, messages and files don't pass through a server; they flow directly through the host in the room.
Only for connecting
While the connection is being set up, public servers are briefly contacted only for an encrypted handshake and an outside-address lookup.
No tracking
No account, no tracking, no recording.
The host can see the traffic in the room and knows your IP address. Share the link only with people you trust.
Call data
meet44 does not receive, store or recover the content of your calls. It cannot moderate chats. Voice, video, screen, messages and files flow encrypted only between the participants' browsers.
What stays on this device
Your display name, identity key, open rooms, message history, received files and settings stay only in this browser (IndexedDB). You can delete them under Settings > Storage; we can't delete them for you.
Host
The host can see the traffic, because it passes through their browser, and knows your IP address. Guests don't see each other's IP addresses.
While connecting
Public Nostr relays (relay.damus.io, nos.lol, relay.primal.net, nostr.mom) carry the encrypted handshake; STUN servers (Google, Cloudflare) tell you your outside address. These servers can't see the content but can see the IP address of the person connecting. Both can be turned off in settings.
App files
The server that serves the page, like any website, may create technical request logs (IP address, URL path, time). The room key does not enter these logs. The call pages have no analytics, no cookie tracking and no third-party scripts.
Account and widget
You do not need an account to talk. An account is only for buying a widget; in that case your email, subscription, API key and allowed-site records are kept on the server and payment is processed by Stripe. When a widget opens, only the API key and the site address are verified; no room, person or content information is sent.
Your rights
You can request access, correction and deletion of your account data. Since we don't hold call data, you can delete that only from your own device.
